Hi everyone!
I’m Prof Dr Peter Hill, and I’m the lead skipper and surveyor with Hügel Marine Services. I originally founded the company to build my maritime experience following a career change away from academia. However, it’s become my life!
Since 2022 I’ve delivered yachts all over Europe, and worked as a Captain, Mate, Coxswain, and/or Engineer on superyachts, offshore supply ships, motor yachts, sailing yachts, windfarm crew transfer vessels, passenger ribs, passenger ribs and small passenger boats.
I’m supported by a fantastic team of highly experienced ad-hoc crew who I call upon for more challenging/longer-duration deliveries.
Sailing Qualifications & Experience
I have over 12,000nm of experience, mostly as Captain, but also as Mate, Coxswain, and Engineer. I also have the following qualifications:
* RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean CoC (Commercially Endorsed)
* STCW Master of Yachts 200GT
* RYA/MCA Advanced Powerboat CoC (Commercially Endorsed)
* ECDIS (Generic)
* HELM(O)
* MCA Small Ship Radar and Meteorology
* MCA 1 Day Stability Course
* GMDSS GOC
* MCA Yacht Rating Certificate (for yachts up to 3000GT)
* ENG1 Unrestricted
* STCW Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Technics, EFA, and PSSR
* STCW Proficiency in Medical Care (MCAS)
* STCW Ship Security Officer
* RYA Inland Helmsman Certificate

*Currently studying the Professional Qualification in Small Vessel and Yacht Surveying
